Welcome to SwedishGlass.com
I have been collecting Swedish glass for many years now and am fascinated by the variety in design and techniques that were invented by the Swedish glassmakers and which revolutionized glassmaking in the 20th Century. However, throughout the years, I have found that the information available on this subject is very limited and difficult to find.
A lot of it is not available in English, which makes the threshold even higher for most people. During the collecting and the research that I have done over the past years, I have accumulated quite a bit of knowledge and information on the subject. I have also built up an extensive reference library about Swedish glass. Since I want to help other collectors out there, I have decided to make this website with all the relevant information that I came across. Most of the information on this site is focused on Orrefors and Kosta Boda, since these are the most collected glass manufacturers. You will also find information on the different glass techniques such as Ariel, Graal, Slipgraal, Kraka, Ravenna, Fuga, Litograal and Fabula, as well as information on Orrefors date codes as well as Kosta Boda date codes and designer signatures.
Here you will find information on mainly Orrefors and Kosta Boda, but also on several other Swedish glassworks and the history of glass in Sweden
I have tried to group the information as logical as possible below. Clicking on any of the links will take you to a page with detailed information on the relevant subject.
How to date Kosta Boda glass
Much less consistent information is available on dating Kosta Boda glass. What I have found can be read here.
